  近日，英国歌手Elton John（艾尔顿-约翰）被“英国作曲家与歌曲作家学院”选为院士。这一荣誉，是对Elton John为英国音乐界所做杰出贡献的认可。
   
  在艾尔顿·约翰的生涯中，有好几首歌曲都曾经陆续出现过不同的录音版本，甚至先后打进排行的，其中就包括了《Candle in the Wind》。这是他献给玛丽莲梦露(Marilyn Monroe)的歌曲，有很多人都认为，这是艾尔顿·约翰毕生的作品中最动人的杰作。这首歌首次发表，是在「Goodbye Yellow Brick Road」专辑里面。
   
  成名多年以来，艾尔顿·约翰得以和许多名流亲近，而由于他对于各种慈善活动、特别是帮助爱滋病患的各项义演向来非常热心，因此他和黛安娜王妃结为好友。1997年，婚姻不美满的黛安娜私下与情人出游，不幸发生车祸而丧生，造成了举世的震惊与哀悼。平民出身的黛安娜王妃公众形象极佳，而由于她平日与演艺界来往密切，艾尔顿·约翰特别把自己当年为玛丽莲梦露所写的《Candle in the Wind》歌词稍加修改，在黛安娜的丧礼上为她演唱，透过了电视的转播，全世界都听到了这首歌曲。唱片公司随后也接着推出了他重新进入录音室灌录的这最新版本，几乎可以说是造成了抢购。（TOM音乐）
