Death Metal/Black Metal（死亡/黑色金属）

    死亡金属由80年代后期的鞭挞金属而来。带着坚硬的歌词和对鞭挞病态的困扰走着极端路线，死亡金属是---就像它的名字所暗示的一样---仅仅是关于死亡，痛苦和受折磨的内容。这些残酷寒冷的歌词被不断喧闹，重型的重复着，这种风格受到很多像Black Sabbath迟缓金属般的影响，Metallica就是典型的代表。死亡金属乐队也同样受了很多70年代艺术摇滚复杂歌曲结构的影响，尽管大部分的这些复杂的歌曲结构是从Metallica那里学来的。死亡金属从没有在大众中产生共鸣，但是对于一些顽固的重金属乐迷来说，Metallica 和Guns N Roses是最优秀的---他们在80年代后期到90年代早期买了数百万的唱片---或者还有流行金属，如Poison。死亡/黑色金属在90年代保持了一小批忠实的乐迷。
